In my senior year of college, I participated in my school’s team for the We The People (WTP) competition program. Our school had a long tradition of competing in this political competition. For these simulated congressional hearings in which we presented our knowledge on certain constitutional topics to a panel of judges, I participated in two of the teams for our school.
My teams were dedicated to the study of the philosophical context of the constitution as well as the mindset of the founding fathers when they were writing this vital American document. In taking part in this challenge, I learned how to excel in a professional setting, as well as work as a team in a timed competition. I had so much fun learning about our government and working in this environment, which made our state championship victory even more of an impactful experience to me.
Although this was not an engineering-based experience, I am very proud of the work that my team and I accomplished during this competition, and I will always hold this time and the knowledge gained during it dear to my heart.
